MARKETING PHASE: Does a coach want to hear from the recruits parent? Coach want to here from a third party? Or does the coach want to communicate with the recruit? During this phases the recruit will be coached up on how to have direct communication with the college coaches and how to do it. The goal has been established and now the recruit goes after it! It is not about being recruited; it is about recruiting. All forms of communicating will be used during this phase and the expression “I sent the coach an e-mail and have not heard back” will be eliminated from the recruit’s experience; After all “He or she who wants milk should not wait for the cow to back up to them”.

DECISION PHASE: Often during this phase the recruit will have to make a difficult decision. The recruit contacts the coach of choice and the coaches of non-choice. Notifying the coaches of non-choice is very important because they usually follow the player throughout their career and may have opportunities such as Grad Assistant positions in the future.
